Capturing the perfect pictures

Taking photos after making your dental impressions at home is an essential step in the process of getting clear aligners. These photos are crucial for assessing your teeth's current condition and tracking your progress throughout your treatment plan.

Importance of taking photos

After you make your dental impressions at home, taking photos of your teeth is necessary to ensure accurate treatment planning. These photos are used to assess your teeth's condition and determine the extent of any misalignments or gaps that need to be corrected.

Additionally, the photos help our smile specialists to track your progress throughout your treatment, making it easier to identify any potential issues and adjust your treatment plan accordingly.

Required close-up images

Use a cheek retractor to separate your lips and create a clear view of your teeth and gums. Additionally, make sure that the space you're taking photographs in has sufficient illumination to capture the details of your teeth and gums.

Steps you need to take

Step 1: Gather your equipment

To take photos of your teeth, you will need a camera, as well as a tripod to keep your camera steady. A ring light or a softbox can also be useful to provide even lighting and minimize shadows.

Step 2: Prepare your teeth

Before taking photos of your teeth, it is essential to prepare them properly. Start by brushing your teeth thoroughly to remove any food particles or debris. Then, use dental floss to clean between your teeth and remove any plaque.

Step 3: Set up your equipment

Once you have gathered all your equipment and prepared your teeth, set up your camera on the tripod and adjust it so that it is at the same level as your teeth. This will ensure that your photos are taken from the correct angle and that there is no distortion.

Step 4: Take the photos

Now that everything is set up, it is time to take the photos. Start by taking a photo of your teeth from the front, making sure that you capture all your teeth and that they are centered in the frame.

Then, take a photo of each side of your mouth, making sure that you capture all your teeth on each side. Finally, take a photo of the top of your mouth, making sure that you capture your upper teeth and gums.

Step 5: Review and analyze the photos

Once you have taken the photos, review them carefully to ensure that they are clear and accurate. Look for any changes or issues that may be present, such as discoloration, cavities, or gum disease.
