Proper storage tips
- Keep your Caspersmile aligners in the provided case whenever you're eating or brushing your teeth.
- Using the case helps protect them from getting lost, damaged, or exposed to germs.
- Leave your next set sealed in its bag until it's time to switch.
- Hold on to previously used aligners in their original pouch until your treatment is finished.
Daily care for your aligners
- Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and gentle soap to clean your aligners.
- Be sure to brush both the inside and outside. It's often easier to clean the outer surface while wearing them.
- Rinse well with cool water. Never use hot water, as it can warp or damage the aligners.
Keep your aligners crystal clear
- Don’t soak them in the mouthwash as it can stain or damage the material.
- Avoid drinking colored beverages while wearing your aligners to prevent discoloration.
- Skip denture cleaners, they’re too harsh and may cloud your aligners.
Hygiene tips for a healthy smile
Always remove your aligners before eating or drinking anything besides water.
Brush and floss after every meal or snack before putting your aligners back in.
If brushing isn’t an option, rinse your mouth thoroughly and clean your aligners under running water.
With Caspersmile, there’s no need for monthly orthodontist visits. Your treatment is designed to be hassle-free and remote.
Dos and Don'ts
Things you should always do
- Store your aligners in their case whenever you’re not wearing them. It keeps them safe and clean.
- Brushing and flossing before putting them back in a clean mouth helps your aligners work better.
- Keep them away from heat and direct sunlight to avoid warping.
- Clean your aligners before every use to maintain hygiene.
- Use only cool or lukewarm water, never hot, when rinsing.
- Choose a soft-bristled toothbrush for gentle yet effective cleaning.
What to avoid
- Keep sharp objects away from your aligners to prevent scratches or damage.
- Never leave your aligners out in the open. Always store them safely in their case.
- Avoid rinsing with hot water, as it can warp the material.
- Skip denture cleaners and mouthwash, which can discolor or degrade aligners.
- Don’t eat or drink while wearing them. Water is the only exception.
- Avoid biting down to push aligners into place it can crack or distort them.
What’s the next step?
Retain your smile
Congratulations on completing your teeth straightening journey. Now it’s time to keep that smile in place with retainers. Retainers help your teeth settle and stay in their new, corrected positions after aligners or braces. For best results, wear them for at least 22 hours a day during the first few months, then switch to nighttime wear for the next 6 months, or as advised by your provider.
Frequently asked questions
Does the treatment cause any pain?
Some discomfort is normal when you begin treatment. It means the aligners are working and your teeth are starting to shift. This usually fades within a few days. If the pain feels too intense, reach out to us right away.
Will clear aligners affect my speech?
You might notice a slight lisp at the start, which is common with any orthodontic appliance. Don’t worry, once your tongue adjusts to the aligners, your speech will return to normal.
What if an aligner doesn’t fit properly?
Caspersmile aligners are custom-made based on the current position of your teeth. Each set is slightly different to help guide your teeth into alignment. It's normal if the first few days feel a bit off. However, if an aligner feels way off, please contact us for support.
Do I have to avoid certain foods?
Not at all. Caspersmile aligners are removable, so you can continue enjoying all your favorite foods without restriction. Just take them out before eating.
My aligners feel loose at night. Is this normal?
Loose or an uncomfortable fit mostly indicates that it's time to switch to a new set of aligners. However, it’s best to consult your dentist and follow his instructions.
How often do I need to change my aligners?
You should wear your aligners for 10 days straight before switching to the next set.
